Structural Investigations, Reporting and Surveys

Our Chartered Civil and Structural Engineers have a wealth of experience investigating and reporting upon structural defects and the general condition of residential and commercial property. We strive to deliver a prompt and personal service backed up with well written reports that clearly identify our structural observations and recommendations to clients and potential interested parties.

There are often several contributing factors to building defects which generally occur over long periods. A clear example is subsidence which can be caused by numerous external factors including unsuitable underlying ground conditions (degrading organic matter or made ground), trees adversely impacting clay soils, broken drains softening granular soils and earlier mining activities. Our experienced Chartered Civil and Structural Engineers employ various investigation and monitoring techniques to determine the predominant causes in building defects and specify remedial actions if they are deemed necessary.

The common building defects we are asked to investigate and report upon are:

  • Subsidence
  • Settlement
  • Fire, Impact and Storm Damage
  • Deflected Floors, Roofs and Walls
  • Vibration in Floors
  • Thermal Movement and Cracking
  • General Structural Condition
